Stay and Play

Yesterday, John Brooks and I checked out Stay and Play at Sun Country Sports in Jonesville. On certain Tuesdays and Fridays, they allow kids under 5 and their parents to come and play on their gym equipment, bouncy houses and HUGE tunnel, crawl, climb, slide kidspace thing. John Brooks has boundless energy and a need to learn social skills that don’t involve tackling so for $5.50 I thought it was the perfect way to spend a couple of hours.

It was well worth the price! I wish I had taken some pictures but I was too busy wrangling my child. Aside from tackling a couple of girls, pulling a kid off of “his slide” and yanking a pair of safety glasses off of some toddler’s face it was a great time! John Brooks was learned how to pull himself up on a blow up toy, he got to bounce and jump, he got to jump into a foam pit and “swim” across, he even spent some time in the KidSpace thing I mentioned above. I was even able to get in on the action there! After checking every available sign to confirm that the contraption could in fact hold an adult, I scrambled up the net climbing wall, crawled through the tunnels and slid down a super fun slide with my boy.

We spent an hour and a half of the two hour alottment of time playing nonstop before John Brooks hit an emotional wall and had a full on two year old melt down causing me to hang my head and leave in mortification. Though I was embarrassed by his assorted aggressive actions all in all I think the experience was a good one and definitely something we will participate in again!

  1. Rest assured, we all know the shame of a public melt down!!! Been there. Done that.

  2. I have always wanted to do this Paige. Annie and I have talked about taking the girls to Stay and Play several times, but we've never done it. Let me know next time you go, it would be fun to meet up! Whitt and John Brooks would be quite a pair!!!!
