Home on the Range

This is our house… It was built in 1915. It has hard wood floors that Ben’s grandma paid for with money she earned from picking pecans. It has a gas stove that has taught me that I never want to cook on anything but a gas stove. It has bead board walls on the interior and cool old doors and an old fireplace. It also comes with an unfinished upstairs room, cracked upstairs windows, bad insulation, wiring that is less than top-notch – we cant have the television’s and the heater on at the same time in the winter – and scary critters. The house is great and old and perfect for a just married couple. However, it is not the ideal situation to bring a baby home to in the winter and it is too expensive to renovate at this time. So…we are going to build a house…..here  I am planning to use the blog as a kind of journal to keep track of our progress and to serve as a memory of this exciting time in our lives. Right now our plans are in route from the engineer to the draft-er-sman (the man who drew the plans). Then we will pick our builder and move along from there. I am sooo excited about this process and this house because it will be ours and Ben and I (and little peanut) will be the first people to ever live there.
