Mothers Day

When I was a little girl and someone would ask me what my plans were for when I grew up I would always reply that I wanted to go to UF, get married and have babies. These days I chuckle at how my dreams never involved an actual career path after college…just college itself…and the wedding and babies that inevitably followed. Winking smile

In a way though, my childhood dreams have come true! Being a mama is something that I have always dreamed of and I thank the Lord every day for allowing me to be Mama to my sweet, wild, funny boy. I also pray that God provides (as I know he will) Ben and I with the wisdom and knowledge necessary to raise our boy to become a man of God who has good morals and values and for God to protect our little daredevil from harms way. John Brooks’ fearless, affectionate, can-do attitude fills me with joy and fear sometimes in the same instant. The tug of war that goes on inside my head each day between allowing him to explore and keeping him out of the Emergency Room is astonishing to me. He can be incredibly challenging at times and there are days when I climb into my bed mere minutes after we’ve tucked him into his out of shear exhaustion….but then he reaches up and gives me the biggest bear hug, rubs my cheek and says “aww Mama” and my heart is like butter on a hot griddle.

  1. Oh man do I feel you on the tug of war between outright fear and letting them explore and learn! It's such a tough call with wild little boys!
